I recommend taking a look at

http://www.stolaf.edu/people/hansonr/jmol/docs/examples/callback.htm

and

http://www.stolaf.edu/people/hansonr/jmol/docs/?search=callback

It's the "set picking" command you need there.

Note that when, for example, you set picking angle, you still get the callback from the individual atom hits, but you get an additional one after you hit the third atom.

I can see the callback.htm page could use some more examples.

In the cmd: box under the model, try issuing commands such as

set picking distance

and then do your picking. You should see what I'm talking about.

Hi, Vicki
I am trying to do the same. I posted on feb.24 about "implementing PickCallBack with Jmol.js". Please, look at Bob Hanson's reply.
I will try to follow his example in order to obtain the distance and angle information.
It seems that PickCallBack only gives atom info, so for distance, angle and torsion the MessageCallBack will have to be used, but this is very complex (gets every message), so it will have to be filtered.

Anyone knows another way to do it?
The idea is to get the distance mesage/report into a Javascript variable (which can then be put into an alert box, the status line or somewhere in the page).
