It was my impression that this already happens when one uses jmol.js to invoke an applet. At least it did on our machine running XP SP2, visiting a site I built on my Mac using jmol.js. An explanation appeared, one click to the Sun website, another to download/install, then reload the page with the applet, and it runs.
