Miguel,

I'm developing content for the {XXX-deleted} homework system
that
uses the Jmol applet. Some of my questions ask students to identify
molecules rendered by Jmol. Is there a way to mask the file name in the
applet pull-down menu? Obviously I can change PDB data file names from
things like Dglucose.pdb to Unknown1.pdb, but that will get to be a
logistical nightmare with all the molecules that I will eventually be
using.

this would be better implemented by a PDB file serving CGI script, modification of appletweb/JmolAppletProxy.cgi e.g. using an mapping database (Unknown1.pdb -- Dglucose.pdb) and stripping off parts of the PDB header. A CGI could hide everything, but the coordinates.

I have received a request that the file name not be displayed in the
pull-down menu.

Q: Would a setting for removing the file name from the popup-menu be
useful in other (educational?) contexts?
I don't think its of great use.
Regards, Jan
