Quoting Miguel <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

I need assistance in getting issues resolved regarding 'convergent' vs.
'divergent' stereo viewing.

Jmol has supported stereo for some time, but there are questions about
whether or not the menus and doc are correct. There may even be questions
about whether or not the matrix rotations are signed correctly.

<snip>
I believe that we should implement that which is is 'mathematically
correct', independent of the way that it was implemented in RasMol.

As far as I know I am only able to get a stereo impression from wall-eyed/side-by-side stereo images (I guess that is what you call 'convergent') without any viewing tools. Cross-eyed stereo images ('divergent' ones?) look quite weird for me. With Jmol (V. 10.00.36,10.00.48) I get a stereo impression with 'stereo 5' which therefore seems to be be wall-eyed.

I think that the sign of the rotation depends on two assignments:
What sign do you assign to a clockwise rotation?
To which side do you assign a zero angle, in front of or behind the computer screen?

So if you for example would assign '+' to a clockwise rotation and set zero in front of the screen, a positive rotation should result in a cross-eyed stereo image. But if would set zero behind the screen, a positive rotation should result in a wall-eyed stereo image instead.

Regards,
Rolf
