This was done for RasMol compatibility ... and compatibility with existing
scripts.
at this point my opinion is that compatibility isn't very important, a
substitution to
connect AUTO (*) (*)
would be easier than modifying bound # # to connect modify double (#)
(#);connect create single (#) (#);
but OK.
select atomno=1
connect delete
is substituted by
connect delete (*) (selected)
only deletes bonds from atom #1 to other
Please clarify your problems/questions regarding 'connect delete' ...
connect delete is behaving just as I expected, only connect; does not
behave the same way as connect delete; but you have explained why.
Q: Is it not behaving they way that it used to?
Q: Is it not behaving in an intuitive way?
select atomno=1
connect
is substituted by
connect {CONNECT record and autobound algorithm} (*) (*)
and not
connect AUTO (*) (selected)
as expected (by me naively)
I do not understand.
I think it would be more clear with an additional operator AUTObound
where naively I had expected that AUTObound is the default if no
distance parameter is given, that
connect
resolves to:
connect AUTO
connect AUTO (*)
connect AUTO (*) (selected)
I also wondered about introduce 'auto' as a keyword.
Q: Are you suggesting that "auto" apply to specified subsets of atoms? If
so, then that change would be too radical for us to consider at this
point.
yes, 'connect AUTO' should do what 'connect;' currently does, but
restricted to the current selection only.
For compatibility reasons, I don't feel comfortable changing the behavior of
OK, knowing 'connect;' is braking the current selection, I could handle.
