"set scale3D" is useful but does not meet my needs for an absolute-scale zoom.

I can live with "set perspectivedepth off" if that is required for absolute
scaling.

I need a way to zoom SMOOTHLY from any arbitrary starting point (such as
"reset") to (for example) where 50 Angstroms will fill 500 pixels.

I can achieve 50 Angstroms in 500 pixels with

set perspectivedepth off
set scale3d 7.2 # Thanks, Angel, for the scaling calculations!

However (Jmol 10.9.105)

1. The change in zoom is not smooth, but snaps all at once.

2. A subsequent "zoomto +0" re-zooms (smoothly!) to level before the
"scale3d" command, negating the scaling!

Also, "show scale3d" reports the last value set, regardless of the actual
zoom at the time. And "show zoom" shows the zoom as it existed before the
"scale3d" command.

Bob, I would be very appreciative if you could give this some attention,
pretty please :-). Something like adding a parameter to "zoomto" that
specifies pixels per Angstrom, goes there smoothly, can be reported with a
"show" command, and can be maintained with subsequent zoomto's until one
wants to change it.
