Is there any way for javascript to detect when the Jmol console is opened by the user?
Why do I want this? In my Jmol Tutorial-Authoring Template, I have a zoom slider. If you slide it, you zoom up or down. If you zoom with the mouse, the slider follows. The latter is accomplished by doing "show zoom" every second, and automatically moving the slider when zoom has changed. The script-per-second mechanism clutters the console, making it unusable. So, if a knowledgable user opens the console, I'd like to detect that and temporarily sacrifice the automatic sliding to follow mouse zooms. It would also be nice if I could detect when the console is closed, but that would be icing on the cake -- not nearly as important as detecting the console opening. I'd be happy, for example, if opening the Jmol console from Jmol's menu messaged "console opened". That would to it. -Eric /* - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Eric Martz, Professor Emeritus, Dept Microbiology U Mass, Amherst -- http://www.umass.edu/molvis/martz Top Five 3D MolVis Technologies http://Top5.MolviZ.Org Biochem 3D Education Resources http://MolviZ.org See 3D Molecules, Install Nothing! - http://firstglance.jmol.org Protein Explorer - 3D Visualization: http://proteinexplorer.org Workshops: http://workshops.proteinexplorer.org World Index of Molecular Visualization Resources: http://molvisindex.org ConSurf - Find Conserved Patches in Proteins: http://consurf.tau.ac.il Atlas of Macromolecules: http://atlas.proteinexplorer.org PDB Lite Macromolecule Finder: http://pdblite.org Molecular Visualization EMail List (molvis-list): http://bioinformatics.org/mailman/listinfo/molvis-list - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - */ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
