After finding the correct URL
(http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/examples-11/simple.htm) the load
and save dialogs work now on my Linux system. (Yes to all the questions.)
It also works now from my locally installed page. So it seems to be a
sporadic and not a general problem on Linux.

Only when I switch the image save format to GIF I get the following Java
error (Java 1.4_2_18):
