Dear all,

thank you for all your answers and help. I was only able to reproduce
the error on
Mac OS X 10.5.6 Build 9G5S
Firefox 3.0.9
or
Camino Version 1.6.7 (1.8.1.21 2009032711)

It seems to work fine with
Safari
Opera
Omniweb
BumperCar (I was desperate)

It runs fine on Windows, using either IE or Firefox.
Extending Roberts's idea: It seems to freeze in Mozilla Browsers
running on Mac OS X if the applet is not completely visible in the
Window.

small applet (new)
http://bisc.cse.ucsc.edu/pages/test/1QSG_EG.html

large applet (old):
http://bisc.cse.ucsc.edu/pages/BiscHom/1QSG_EG.html

I would be interested how it works on *NIX system. Unfortunately our
machines here don't have the proper JRE installed, anyone sharing
hers/his experience with this issue on *NIX systems would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheers,
Thomas
