Depending on the way you hide your applet (e.g using CSS style display:none) 
and the 
browser you use, the applet object is destroyed and has to be regenerated later 
when you 
unhide it. That might be the cause for your trouble, as there might a timing 
conflict between 
the scripted action and the applet being reinitialized.

Try hiding the applet with CSS style height:1px;width:1px
