Hi,

my name is Adriana Figueiredo and I am a phd student. My research
focus is on online communities, more specifically, innovation in these
communities.

Among the thousands of projects in SF, I chose the Jmol project for my case
study
mainly because of the following words in the history page (
http://jmol.sourceforge.net/history/):

*Shortly after 10.2 was released, Bob Hanson started leading the work on
Jmol source code, and began adding extra features that were not available on
Rasmol and Chime --many of them after users' timid questions or dreams--.*

In the last 2 days I have read many messages in this mailing list and others
material in the internet.
I have a clue of features that can be considered innovation for the Jmol
users. For example, measurements
(distance, angles and torsion angles) that were suggested by a user in 2003.

But I would be very pleased if this user community could tell me which Jmol
features they
feel like it were an innovation ? It can be a plataform/technology change,
or a great idea.

I do appreciate any input. Thanks in advance,

Adriana Figeiredo
