Jmol users,
Well, that was a big job. I believe the Jmol documentation is finally up to
date.
Both http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/?&fullmanual=1&ver=12.0 and
http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/examples-11/new.htm reflect the changes
made in the past six months that I haven't had the time to get documented.
Lots of new things there. I recommend hitting those highlighted items just
once at least. It appears that there are now close to 170 new features
between 11.8 and 12.0. Somebody stop me!!!
Seriously, this is all headed toward release in the next two weeks -- just
in time for the Biennial Conference on Chemical Education at the end of
July. Unless someone has some pressing business, I'd like to say I'm done
implementing new features for a while. I was SUPPOSED to say that a month
ago, but I got so into the 3D-SMARTS/bioSMILES/bioSMARTS business and the
modelKit that I just felt that needed some more work.
Something else I'm interested in people checking out ---
http://jmol.proteinExplorer.org has a new interface to
http://www.proteopedia.org. Load a model and check out the Wiki tab. Not
tested outside Windows XP, so there are likely to be some issues there. By
the way, Eric Martz's original Chime-based Protein Explorer is now
completely converted to Jmol with this project and is working well. [Eric,
you will be happy to know that all that fancy query marker business actually
was necessary in this case and came in very useful in incorporating the
Proteopedia text into Jmol Protein Explorer. I'm hoping people like this
sort of mash-up. Do try the E-mail link. It's pretty amazing.
