Hi Guido

I think this is likely a Moodle configuration issue. There is no reason why 
Jmol will load or not a file depending on its format.

I would suggest:

1. check with the person that administers the Moodle config to see if it's a 
configuration that must be updated. I do not know how the Moddle Jmol Extension 
works.

2. try to just rename your .cif file so it ends in .mol


An please do come back with any solutions you find. We may document them in 
Jmol WIki for other users (in fact, you can contribute that piece of info  to 
the wiki yourself)
