Mottarella, Rosa, Bangura, Bernstein and Craig have developed a
plugin for PyMOL, ConSCRIPT, that enables it to accept RasMol command
language. Thus, you can fire up PyMOL, type in a series of RasMol
commands (including the large subset common to Jmol and RasMol), and
produce a high-resolution, publication-quality image with beautiful
ray tracing. For those familiar with RasMol (Chime, Jmol) language,
this is MUCH easier than learning the quite different and challenging
PyMOL interface. I have tested ConSCRIPT and it works quite well. I
congratulate the authors.

ConSCRIPT was published in the Nov/Dec 2010 issue of Biochemistry and
Molecular Biology Education,
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/bmb.20450/abstract

PDF could be requested from Paul Craig, pac8...@rit.edu

The software can be downloaded here
https://sourceforge.net/projects/sbevsl/files/ConSCRIPT/
Instructions for installation in Windows, Mac and linux, and for
generating a high-resolution ray-traced image, are included in the README file.

Incidentally, it is also possible to prepare publication-quality
molecular images in PyMOL without installing PyMOL, or learning any
command language. Use the PolyView-3D server:

The modern datacenter depends on network connectivity to access resources
and provide services. The best practices for maximizing a physical server's
connectivity to a physical network are well understood - see how these
rules translate into the virtual world?
