I confirmed all behaviors in various examples at the Jmol script docs (http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/docs/) (latest Jmol), as well as in FirstGlance (http://firstglance.jmol.org) or Proteopedia (http://proteopedia.org) (both of which use Jmol 11.8.x).
