Let's figure this out. Please use
http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/jsmol.zipfor testing. I just modified
it for MSIE 10 and Opera 10.
My experience is as follows using Airplane Mode ON to ensure no files are
coming from any server:
Windows/Firefox 18.0
All the local files (center column) in jsmol.htm load just fine, both
binary (1hxw.png) and nonbinary (water.xodydata)
Windows/MSIE 10
Modifications I just made to j2sjmol.js appear to be allowing MSIE to load
local nonbinary files just fine. (The problem, Renjian, was with the
transport mechanism of j2s, which I switched to the one used by jQuery.
Might be a header.)
Windows/Chrome
No local file access by AJAX
Windows/Opera
No local file access by AJAX
Mac, Linux
Not tested.
