It sounds like you do not have all the files of the applet.

1. What do you mean by "I have checked out from the server"? Is the 
page that fails in your local disk or in the server?
 Check that all the JmolApplet files are in the folder being visited.
Maybe you downloaded a copy of the page but not all the needed files.

2. You should not use the applet tag (although this is possibly not 
related to your error). Better use Jmol.js method

3. your paths are different:
 home/mahnoor/Desktop/fridb/Jmol/
 /home/mahnoor/Desktop/fridb/Jmol/

4. That 404 error will say which is the file not found, right?. So go 
and see if the file is there or otherwise add it
