I was able to solve the FF 30 problem by using the HTML5 approach shown on: http://chemapps.stolaf.edu/jmol/jsmol/test2.htm?_USE=HTML5. The applet loads very slowly (first time) when I use my server for the applet. I assume it could be optimised, but not with my current, limited web skills. In the end, I really only want a ball molecule that the user can rotate
