Java 7 update 67 appears to me to be OK. I have tested updating to Java 7 update 67 (Java 1.7.0_67), in Windows 7, both from Java 7 update 65, and from Java 7 update 60. Jmol signed applet works fine either way.
This is in contrast to update 65, which (when updated from 60) produced Java that did not run Jmol signed applet (at least in FirstGlance), as we have discussed at length here. Thus it appears to me that update 67 fixes the Windows 7 installer issue that was present in update 65. In OS X Mavericks, I upgraded from 65 to 67, and Jmol signed applet worked fine (as it did with the upgrade from 60 to 65 on OS X). Also Jmol unsigned applet worked fine. Hooray! (But the release of the broken 65 does make me have concerns about the Java team at Oracle. On the other hand, apparently not all applets were broken, maybe just a small subset including Jmol?) I have removed the large yellow box at http://proteopedia.org/w/Installing_and_enabling_Java#Windows that explained how to fix Java 7 update 65.
