I'm not a programmer, but I'd like to add some comments in this discussion.

Jmol has a lot of power, but it is not mainly a programming language. It is a 
file reader, parser and viewer with many features.

I dont know if you are aware of this: You can use up-arrow from the console 
to retrieve last-used commands (i.e. those in the history).

But when you say "previous sessions", I understand that the Jmol window 
has been closed in between. That is not currently recoverable.

Where would that data be saved? and compatible with any operating 
system?

How to control how much disk space will be available for that storage? How 
to clear it?
