Hi Bob and Otis,

Thanks for your replies. I got it working. BTW, I’ve been meaning to announce
this is some more “official” way on the list, but I haven’t yet, so I guess
this is as good a time as any.

Bob, as you know, long ago we incorporated a version of Jmol into our
Java-based Molecular Workbench <http://mw.concord.org/modeler/> Since that
time we have converted much of the capability of that system into HTML5
<http://mw.concord.org/nextgen/> The basic ides is what we call the Lab
framework, that allows us to make interactives that contain a model of some
type (ex. molecular dynamics, JSmol 3D viewer, fluid dynamics…) and hook that
up with common input and output widgets.

The result is a nice portable interactive that can be embedded easily in
anyone’s web-based system, including our own activity authoring system.

Here’s the one I was working on that you helped with:
http://lab.concord.org/interactives.html#interactives/interactions/buildMoleculesPartialCharge.json

<http://lab.concord.org/interactives.html#interactives/interactions/buildMoleculesPartialCharge.json>

This site is sort-of a developer view as I have not pushed it out to our more
public facing sites yet.

If you click “share” you can get a link to a full window version, or an embed
code to get an iframe snippet for easily including in other web environments.
We also have an activity authoring system that is pretty easy to use, which
allows folks to surround these interactives with context (image, text, video)
and assessments (multiple choice, open response, and snapshots of the model
that can be annotated with a draw tool). See example here:
http://authoring.concord.org/activities/570
<http://authoring.concord.org/activities/570>

Everything is open source and free for the public to use. Right now things are
still a bit technical for the average person, but we are working on making the
interactive and activity authoring systems more easy to use.

Thanks for all of your work on Jmol/JSmol to continue to make this amazing
resource available for everyone,
-Dan
