This works on all tested systems (see below) with both Java and HTML5 (except for problem number 4).
I tested version 14.3.16_2015.08.21 with the 'Jena3D Viewer' HTML5 (http://jenalib.fli-leibniz.de/cgi-bin/3d_mapping.pl?CODE=1deh&APPLET=html5&JMOLVERSION=14.3.16_2015.08.21 ) and Java (http://jenalib.fli-leibniz.de/cgi-bin/3d_mapping.pl?CODE=1deh&APPLET=java&JMOLVERSION=14.3.16_2015.08.21) and observed the following problems: 1) JSmol on MacOS 10.9 in Safari 7.1.3 and Firefox 36.0.4 pop up one or several error message boxes with the following content (essentially identical in both browsers): ---- Safari ------------- TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating 'J.api.Interface.getInterface') try/catch path: 0 function (b, d) args[0]=TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating 'J.api.Int... args[1]=function () {a.instantialize(this, arguments);} 1 J.i18n.GT.addBundles(a, c, d, b, f) args[0]=null args[1]=J.translation.Jmol. args[2]=null args[3]=null args[4]=de 2 construct(a, c) args[0]=null args[1]=null 3 function () args[0]=null args[1]=null 4 function (a, b) args[0]=[J.i18n.GT object] args[1]=, 5 function () args[0]=null args[1]=null 6 J.i18n.GT.getTextWrapper() 7 J.i18n.GT._(a) args[0]=assign/new atom or bond (requires {0}) 8 function () 9 function (a) <recursing> -------------------------------- The echo message "Preparing view, please wait..." isn't switched off. This indicates that there is occuring a problem during the initial script. But the messageCallback doesn't show any error message. JSmol is still responding but not reacting on interface actions like pressing one of the standard view buttons at the top. On Linux in Firefox 40.0 and Chromium 31.0 no error dialogs appear. But JSmol is frozen after the view was prepared. The popup menu does appear but no reactions are occuring. 2) In the Java version on MacOS 10.9 with Firefox 36.0.4 (Safari not tested yet because it is more restrictive with Java not being the latest version)) the popup menu closes itself immediately after opening it with the right mouse button. Opening it with the 'frank' works without a problem. 3) In JSmol the console doesn't open up on any system tested. MacOS 10.9: Safari 7.1.3, Firefox 36.0.4 Linux: Firefox 40.0, Chromium 31.0 4) An old (annoying) problem on Linux with Firefox 40.0 and Chromium 31.0 still persists. After opening the popup menu the model rotates if the mouse leaves the menu area while the menu stays open. After selecting a menu option the menu closes and the model starts rotating until the left mouse button is pressed. It seems as if the system somehow thinks the left mouse button is beeing pressed all the time when the mouse leaves the popup menu area or the popup menu is closed. After opening the menu with the 'frank' the problem doesn't occur.
