Simon, you might like this better:

load "http://scripts.iucr.org/cgi-bin/sendcif?hb0009";
polyhedra BONDS unitcell {aluminum} {_O}

Note that you do not have to load the full unit cell; the oxygens are found.

I also corrected the issue with your final data_global forcing a second,
empty model being loaded. Seems to me I had fixed that 10 years ago, but
maybe not.

This is incorporated into the latest version of Jmol, uploading now.
