Thanks for all your suggestions with this. I' haven't had a chance to try
them out yet.

The reason I asked the question is because I wanted to send the PNGJ file
via AJAX. At the moment to create photo-realistic images from JSmol the
browser generates an .x3d file of the molecule and we then send it via AJAX
to the webserver. The file is then sent to our cloud storage until it is
needed by the server that imports it into the 3D modelling package and
renders the image.

I was wondering if we could send a PNGJ file instead of .x3d and then have
the render server generate the .x3d file using the PNGJ file and
JmolData.jar. I've tried this part of the process and the .x3d file
generation works fine with JmolData.jar. Although this is more complex it
would mean that we had an image and the state of the model created in
JSmol. The PNG file would be much more useful in troubleshooting than just
the .x3d file.

I hadn't even thought of dynamic Jmol image insertion, but it's a great
suggestion.

I'll let you know if I'm able to send PNGJ with AJAX, once I've tried it
out.

Thanks again for your help and ideas.

Chris
