We have an opening for………………… Position: Lead Java Developer Location: Herndon & McLean, VA Duration: 12 Months LEAD (presentations, etc), 8+ yrs core Java, UNIX, OO, JUnit, Perl or Shell, EMS/NMS exposure/knowledge. PLUS: some SWING, threads, JMS, CVS, sockets, Java2D. Manager wants someone with “pure” Java application development/implementation experience – as opposed to (NOT) just Enterprise Java apps (J2EE). Develop/design new apps from scratch – stand alone applications. Must have a strong OO background. Prefer someone with C++ background. Lead experience: 1. A dynamic person who could be good candidate for leading other developers. 2. One who takes initiative, is autonomous, a problem-solver. No hand-holding. Description We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to perform a variety of programming assignments requiring knowledge of established programming procedures. Maintain and modify programs. Description Work in team environment to support and develop commercial software for telecommunications applications. Responsibilities include ° Maintain and develop complex software applications using core JAVA ° Learn new technologies and gain experience in EMS area. ° Develop and perform Unit Tests for new or existing features. ° Full software development lifecycle including design, coding, debugging, testing, and documentation of EMS/NMS and other telecom related software applications. ° Research and code solutions to problems as they arise. Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years experience in systems engineering, or closely related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred. · Strong working knowledge of object-oriented (OO) programming language · Strong Core Java experience (5+ years), including JUnit. Some Swing and threads experience preferred. · Experience with relational database, JMS, and Java GUI components a plus. · Unix operating experience, including Perl or Shell scripting · Knowledge of programming multi-tier applications. · Experience working within software development process for coding and implementing software. · Knowledge of telecommunications and networking desirable, especially in the areas of optical and IP networking. · Experience with CVS or equivalent source control tool(s) · Must be self-motivated and very resourceful. · Ability to develop detailed specifications for user interfaces. · Strong analytical skills and ability to creatively solve problems. · Ability to work well independently and in a team environment. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills. · Familiarity with a wide range of software technologies, patterns, and architectures. · Capable of working effectively in a dynamic development environment where new demands emerge and priorities shift frequently.
