(Start date is 09/08)* *Mode of Interview: Telephonic and Face to Face* *Requires: 9-10 years of Experience.* *Job Summary:* Summarize the overall purpose and objectives of the job Application is a custom developed case management systems developed *using ASP/VB6 and an Informix Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).* This VB6 app. is a mission critical app accounting for 65% of revenue. First phase of this re-architecture is to *migrate the current Informix Database to SQL Server 2005 with minimum impact to the VB6 app*. Assist IT staff with the migration, configuration, security, failover, maintenance *Essential Functions:* List the principal tasks, duties and responsibilities of the job - Plan, deploy, monitor and manage all operational aspects of Microsoft SQL Server database systems. - Data modeling, database design, security modeling, performance monitoring, training and production support. - Train and work collaboratively with individual database owners to implement such guidelines. - Develop, maintain and document scripts to support regular database operations, including backup, high availability and disaster recovery. - Monitor and improve the performance of the hosting environment. - Analyze and document incidents, recommend and implement preventive measures. - Actively involved in the execution of the most complex aspects of projects, including systems analysis, development, programming, documentation *Minimal Qualifications:* Minimal knowledge, skills & abilities to enter the job. Also list any certifications, degrees, etc that are required. - In-depth knowledge of and extensive experience in systems design and development, management, implementation and maintenance of complex information systems. - Experience in developing and maintaining large centralized and decentralized database systems. - 6-8 years experience in the administration of SQL Server 2000 / 2005 database systems. - Strong communications skills; ability to effectively liaise with technical/non-technical Staff * * *Desired Experience*: Desired experience, education, tool sets. *Please include Vertical experience if necessary.* *Strong SQL DBA, current team does not have strong SQL experience, will need to work with previous Informix DBA to gain understanding of previous structure and procedures.
