Duration: *3 Months + Extension* Location: *North Carolina* Rate is Open but try to keep it in the *50's* Range Not more than that. Experience with *Solaris *or other *Unix *operating systems is required. Participation in a On-call rotation and after hours support is required. Work hours or days may change to meet business needs. This position is currently 10am 8pm Sunday to Wednesday. The job is a combination of advanced systems administration and systems engineering. The candidate will participate in a team responsible for support and monitoring of systems within a 24x7 regional data center. Candidate will contribute to the installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring and problem resolution; as well as the integration of new solutions in an ISP environment; provide systems and applications support and engineering for the Sun Solaris platform, other *UNIX based platforms, and Microsoft **Operating Systems platforms.* The candidate should have a clear understanding of the Internet and the services provided by an ISP; Experience with Solaris or other Unix operating systems; Understand Inter-networking technologies; Knowledge of switching, routing and load balancing systems, LAN/WAN networking technologies. Working knowledge of Data over Cable systems is a plus; ISP, Cable or Broadband environment experience is highly valued. Experience in customer support, technical support, and service deployment are desirable. Adaptability, quick learning and strong problem solving capabilities. The candidate works closely with other team members and must be a team player, with an inherent ability to work well under tight timelines. Must be able to provide concise procedures and documentation of operational procedures and be willing to work variable shift hours and participate in on-call duties and after hours support remotely or on-site. Must be willing to perform maintenance during off hours, currently defined as 12:00 am 6:00 am local time. *Performs testing, analysis and configuration of assorted system hardware and software for purposes of tuning, failure analysis and modeling.*Analyzes and tunes performance of strategic Internet applications. Uses client/server tools to verify proper operation of complex configurations.Resolves issues as they arise and provides technical support to key technical staff including training if junior members of the team.Implements new and current technologies within the Regional Data Center providing high quality service Resolves system problems; provides technical support to key technical staff and trains junior members of the regional operations team; Implements new and current technologies within the Regional Data Center providing high quality service. Successful candidate will have broad understanding of multiple technologies; functional knowledge of DHCP, DNS, HTTP/S, HTML, POP, SMTP, LDAP, SNMP, TCP/IP principles, Internet routing and firewalls, security, News and WWW applications. Product deployment and end user support experience desirable; 1-3 years experience with supporting production systems; experience working in an operations environment *supporting Solaris, Linux, and Windows operating systems*, applications, and hardware, experience with network devices. Experience with SQL, Perl, and PHP programming is desired. *Working knowledge of Novell Directory Services* is a plus. Background should include expertise in Internet service related products, backup, security and monitoring software; experience with the development of test procedures and custom system/network monitoring solutions.
