Assists with the development and maintenance of the PeopleSoft package. Customizes and configures workflow to allow the integration of client/server applications. Tests PeopleSoft configuration to ensure the system is meeting corporate needs. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
The University of Wisconsin Madison requests a consultant to assist with converting its campuses from a totally custom-developed General Ledger (GL) interface to the PeopleSoft- delivered functionality. The GL Interface moves transactional data from the Student Financials module within PeopleSoft Campus Solutions at each institution to the General Ledger module within PeopleSoft Financial Management system. The custom GL Interface functionality that we wish to replace was originally constructed to work with PeopleSoft Student Administration version 7.5. At that time, the delivered PeopleSoft GL Interface was neither robust nor reliable enough to work for UW System business processes. However, with the most recent version 9.0 release, it appears that the delivered interface will be able to meet most of our needs, with the addition of a new custom process to supplement it.
The consultant will be responsible for assisting with the identification of requirements, writing a backend revision process to cover gaps in the delivered process, converting data from the custom interface to delivered tables, and rolling this process out to UW System institutions that use this functionality.
The consultant must have an excellent knowledge of the Oracle/PeopleSoft Financial Management General Ledger and Campus Solutions Student Financials processes. S/he must understand the technical structure underlying the processes on the Student Financials side. Familiarity with UW business process would be preferable. The consultant must be able to work independently, since there are no "experts" on the current interface; however, s/he will work with UW developers on development of the new interface process. Consultants will be expected to travel to UW System campuses to assist them with converting to the new process.
Excellent communication, documentation and technical skills are required. The consultant must be willing to work within the standards of the UW-Madison Division of Information Technology Collaborative Applications team (also known as the MILER team). Standards will be provided upon request.
If enough time is available during the engagement, UW would also like to use the same consultant to assist us in rolling out a new version of the 1098T process using primarily the PeopleSoft-delivered process with a backend to reformat the output (this has already been written). The same knowledge and skills as outlined for the GL interface engagement are required for the 1098T work.
