*Position: Manual Tester * *Location: Allentown, PA* *Duration: 6 Months - 1 Year* *Position Summary:* This position is responsible for performing the duties necessary to test and document the system's compliance with the client's requirements prior to new products, system enhancements, modifications, system upgrades, and code fixes reaching production. The Quality Assurance Analyst may work with various systems and system tools. *Essential Functions:* Executes the successful running of test cycles, including all peripheral systems. Enters necessary transactions for testing as provided by the Business Systems Analyst. Configures and manages testing environments and test data. Researches errors during cycle with developers. Works closely with build manager to determine what is testable. Communicates test output to carrier when appropriate. Manages defects coming in from carrier. Communicates status of defects to carrier. May participate in test plan development efforts within assigned team. Deploys tested and approved code to production environment from build created by build manager. Documents and updates status of Change Control Requests, issues, etc. in management system. Performs production test cycle when applicable. Verifies approval of Production Change Requests from Change Control Board and approval from carrier for deployment. Communicates release notes to carrier. Adheres to policies and procedures within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Maintains a client service approach. Maintains and promotes company values. Additional Responsibilities: Produce technical or procedural documentation as required. Performs other duties as may be assigned. *Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* Essential skills include: Ø Knowledge of testing, testing methodologies and disciplines. Ø Junior level system development skills. Ø Ability to work within both Windows and Linux, using a command line interface in a shell environment. Ø Understands quality standards for own work, detail-oriented. Beneficial skills include: Ø Familiar with the insurance industry and general insurance policy concepts. Ø Proven ability to use differencing software. Ø Familiar with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). General knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ø Strong values, highest degree of personal integrity. Ø Works effectively with others, treats others with courtesy and respect; team player. Ø Performs with a customer-service mindset. Ø Adjusts and is flexible to meet changing needs and demands of internal and external clients. Ø Establishes high quality standards for own work; detail-oriented. Ø Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills. Ø Ability to think analytically about problems assigned or encountered. Ø Resourcefulness and ability to take the initiative in development and completion of work projects. Ø Ability to work with limited supervision. *Education, Training and Experience:* Bachelor degree or six years related work experience.
