This is a contract opportunity. The need is as follows, a mainframe DB2 DBA to provide production support. The position does a lot of the basics - image copy, reorg, runstats. The DB2 DBA must have a thorough understanding of the IBM utilities. The DBA must also be able to correct abends and restart utilities, this a key skill. The DBA also assists application developers plan their batch cycle for the utilities and performance tuning. 24x7 pager support is required and this supported is rotated amongst the team. Access from home is provided in order to provide pager or weekend support. The client has a number of large databases with high availability requirements. Experience with this type of database is also required.
