Software Developer (Web) (R1-50 per annum plus

career (above 2 years) position at Bridge People & Technology, a small
company (21-100 employees) in the Information Technology sector in Cape
Town, South Africa (Western Cape). Benefits: Medical Aid.
Duties
and Accomplishments I am currently working along with
Hemisphere Technologies in developing a new/improved version of Bridge's
e-Learning system called KnowHow. KnowHow is used in ERP Training (eg.
SAP). I am mainly responsible for the reporting requirements of the
application. Once a report has been defined, I create an XML file that
acts as a template for the report design. I compile the XML file into a
.jasper file, which gets used at runtime. I develop JSP's
(presentation layer) which allow the user to select filter
criteria/sorting/output format for the report. I also develop Struts
Action classes (Controller Components) and ActionForms (Model Components)
to handle HTTP requests and responses. Using Jasper Reports, I am able
to output reports in HTML, Excel or PDF format. Besides the above, I
am also currently developing a Proposal Logging System, as a solo project,
for Bridge-PT. KnowHow is being developed with the following
technologies: Java, JDO (Java Data Objects), JSP, Servlets, XML, Struts
Web Application Framework, Jasper (reports), Ant, CVS, IntelliJ
