Nytimes.com is looking for experienced, self-motivated Front-End Developers to create cutting-edge interactive interfaces and web applications across the site. The Front-End Developer is responsible for building engaging, innovative experiences on nytimes.com with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. The successful candidate will be an expert in JavaScript and have experience with one or more of its prominent libraries, highly proficient in CSS and semantic HTML. Other responsibilities include ongoing site maintenance and technical documentation. Strong communication skills are a must as this position interacts heavily with many departments within nytimes.com. Required: - Expert-level Javascript ability. 2-3 years of Javascript development. - AJAX development experience. - Strong competency in CSS and semantic mark-up, including but not limited to table-less layouts. - CS degree or equivalent experience. - Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming language (PHP 5, Java, C) - Firm grasp of cross-browser JS and CSS complexities. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to manage one's time effectively to meet multiple, tight deadlines. Nice to have: - Ability to take on a leadership role in advancing procedures and methodologies - Experience with Front-End Optimization techniques in an enterprise environment - Experience working in a project-driven web development environment.
