Web performance is an important aspect of running our site. We measure just about everything and are constantly tweaking to improve our site performance. I'm currently hiring for two new positions on our engineering team at Etsy for a couple of web performance engineers. Mike *Web Performance Engineer (Back-end)* http://etsy.me/ggEYLe Etsy is seeking a Web Performance Engineer to manage, measure, and improve on all aspects of back-end web site performance. You'll be responsible for selecting and managing tools for measuring and profiling performance of page generation on our web servers. With benchmarks in place, you'll make improvements to application code, database queries, web services, and caching layers to improve the delivery of pages across Etsy.com. You'll work across functional engineering teams to evangelize web performance and monitor improvements (and regressions) in delivery speed throughout your work. Get fired up! You'll be focusing on hands-on performance areas like CSS and JavaScript optimizations, spriting, content delivery networks, HTTP caching headers, and Ajax request performance. These sorts of performance improvements will be targeted at both desktop and mobile platforms. We like to deploy code frequently and measure just about everything going on in our application stack. You'll have the opportunity to contribute quickly and validate the effectiveness of your changes.
