203-241-2655 ENGINEERING TEAM LEAD, ANALYTICS - NYC The Engineering Team Lead, Analytics role is critical to the Platform and has strategic, technical execution, and team management responsibilities. The individual is responsible for evaluating our existing homegrown Analytics product, collaborating with internal teams -- including Marketing, Sales, and Editorial -- to create an industry-leading solution as part of the Platform. The Analytics product is the intelligence and storytelling layer within the Platform. Through easy-to-use query tools and personalized dashboards, it weaves together a powerful story about the relationships amongst our Platform, content, customers, advertisers, and editors. It tells us how our customers arrive at our site, how they engage with our content, what devices they use, how often do they come back, how much do they interact with our advertisements, what and where do they share, what their sartorial taste is, their topical interest, and so on. Responsibilities: ● Lead engineering efforts in building out our Analytics product -- including data warehouse, personalized dashboards (for Marketing, Editorial, Sales, and advertising partners), custom query tools, SEO-related monitoring tools, etc. ● Help internal teams and advertising partners to better understand the value of our Platform through data ● Lead efforts and roadmap across the company and for site analytics, page templates, recommendations, audience segmentation, and other features with goal to drive site acquisition and deeper reader engagement on site. ● Co-create strategic direction and product roadmap with Product Manager and the Marketing team ● Strategically manage relationships and oversee integrations / partnerships with third-party platforms, such as SimpleReach, Google Analytics, Gnip, Facebook, Twitter, etc. ● Ensure data consistency and integrity across the Platform ● Collaborate with parallel Engineering teams -- CMS, Web, Mobile, Community, and Partnerships -- on Analytics needs ● Build the Analytics engineering team from scratch, transition off offshore resources while maintaining dev momentum ● Define key metrics of success and goals of projects to ensure the team has a clear understanding of its objectives Qualifications: ● Ability to distill and communicate complex technical and product ideas concisely ● Ability to create complex and interactive data visualizations ● Ability to lead and build engineering teams of 3 - 5 engineers ● Working knowledge of semantic web technologies, such as Apache Jena, SPARQL query language, OWLIM, Neo4j, etc. ● Experience with natural language processing (NLP) ● Deeply empathetic about users’ needs, especially around reading, retrieving, and visualizing data ● Knowledge of large-scale data-processing technologies, such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, etc. ● 8+ years of relevant work experience ● Thorough understanding of PHP, Java, MySQL, Python ● Thorough understanding of database design and data warehouse design ● B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related fields Joyce Schiffer <http://www.linkedin.com/pub/joyce-schiffer-joyce-taskmanagement-com/16/106/ 730> Linkedin Profile (203) 241-2655 cell Joyce <mailto:jo...@taskmanagement.com> @taskmanagement.com
