"Don't Answer the Phone" (1980) Ah yes, the golden age of the slasher genre begins. The only thing is......with this film there is little if any "slashing". Photographer Kirk Smith is a Vietnam vet who is in to weight lifting and such things. One of his other favorite things to do is terrorize and strangle nekkid hotties. What Kirk is for the most part is a misogynistic psychopath. The plot here is just plain dumb and the acting across the board is dreadful. That said, Nicholas Worth who plays the killer gives a performance that is so far over the top it's brilliant. Either that or it was the most hideous job of acting ever captured on film. I'm going with the former instead of the latter. "Don't....." gave me that warm fuzzy feeling. It just had the right "look". 3 1/2 outta 5, Skip
