Description of duties: 
 
Under the general supervision of the Head of the Resident Coordinator
Office in Indonesia, and reporting to the designated officer in
Jakarta, the Data Management Associate will carry out the following
support functions:

       Establish and maintain a database/Geographical Information
System which would be used for collation and compilation of quality
data/information on various aspects of actual and potential disasters
and conflict related emergencies in different parts of Indonesia; 

       Establish databases and working together with Emergency
Response Officer for compilation and classification of quality data on
natural disaster and different emergencies, priority humanitarian
needs, and assistance activities provided; 

       Ensure an adequate information flow within the Office,
including the creation and maintenance of an electronic filing system; 

       Liaise with Data Management/Information Officers/Assistants of
other UN agencies, NGOs, and IOM, to ensure a proper and complementary
data collection system that would be useful for all stakeholders; 

       Under guidance from OCHA New York, maintain Lotus Notes e-mail
and information services for OCHA Indonesia work stations; 

       Advice OCHA Indonesia field staff on problems related to Lotus
Notes and other computer related issues; 

       As required, provide technical assistance in the establishment
and updating of OCHA Indonesia's Website; 

       Perform such other related duties as directed by supervisor or
Chief of the Office.


Qualifications/Skills: 

       Bachelor degree in relevant areas (IT/GIS). Secondary 
education with specialized certification in relevant areas (IT, GIS)
would be preferable. 

       A minimum of four years working experience in establishing and
management of databases and/or GIS. 

       Experience in using MS Access, MS Word/Excel/Power point and
other relevant software packages. 

       Experience with UN/humanitarian organizations an advantage. 

       Ability to communicate in speech and in writing. 

       Good writing and speaking skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
