It's always nice to hear about a new person who discovered teh wonderful world of linux.
If you want linux, you can download it freely from the internet. But if you don't have the bandwidth or the patience, most of the guys on the LUG have some distributions handy. I personally have Fedora Core 5 (This is the free (gratis) version of redhat), and Ubuntu Dapper Drake. If you want, we can arrange to meet and give you copies of whichever you choose.
However, although redhat is the most known, maybe some other distribution would be more appropriate for your needs. I know everybody on this list have their favourite distro (Ubuntu for me :) ). Try to follow the steps provided by Fakhri, and when you choose your distro, i'm sure you'll find somebody here who already has it and you can get it from.
Also, we sometimes arrange a LUG (Linux User Group) meeting. You can attend any of those, to get to know the community, and get and contribute ideas and support to the various problems and projects undertaken by the community. Just keep watching this googlegroup, and you'll be -mostly- up to date.
