1- Yahoo! is mainly run on FreeBSD. 2- Yahoo! is not a piece of software, even if you have the software that is running Yahoo!, that doesn't mean you have Yahoo!, you can't "develop" it. 3- In my opinion, this has nothing to do with monopoly, they just want to try and compete with Google 4- I will be very sad if this deal goes through, as Yahoo! is a big open source software supporter, especially FreeBSD and PHP. I wouldn't be so sure what will happen.
