Salam, Thanks for sending the PDF it helped a lot.
I did the following: 1- Converting the file to text and I have been able to read the document Arabic characters (pdftotext) 2- Converted it to html (pdftohtml), opened it in firefox and chose utf8 also I was able to read it (but this time the words were reversed) I tried to open it from the command line (xpdf filename.pdf) and I found that the problem is that: Couldn't find a font for 'SimplifiedArabic' Couldn't find a font for 'ArabicTransparent-Bold' Couldn't find a font for 'ArabicTransparent' I installed everything related to arabic language on my ubuntu but didn't fix the problem, but as a remedy solution you can now convert to text, until one of us finds the solution.
