Some questions arise upon the JOnAS compliance level with EJB 1.1
specification.
We have never said that JOnAS was 100% EJB1.1 compliant.
At this time we have taken into account the new EJB 1.1 API.

Our goal is to migrate step by step to be fully compliant.
we have to handle:
XML deployment descriptors, (It is why we need the EJB 1.0
javax.ejb.deployment package)
Bean Managed Transaction support restricted to session Beans,
CMP support for reference to EJB and serializable type,
transaction attribute "never" ,and restrict the use of others attributes
in some cases,
the use of javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow,
the use of Enterprise Bean environment ("java:com/env"),
etc..

but we have yet in JOnAS 1.5:
the support of collection type for Finders methods,
the support of local/global transactions,
the support for home handles,
new primitives in EJBContext, EJBMetaData, EJBHome,
(but Mark Jeffrey is right when he says we have forgotten the
little change relative to ejbCreate fonction in CMP).
etc...

We are currently implementing the handling of exceptions
thrown by a business method or container-onvoked callbacks as described
in 12 of the 1.1 specification.

I hope it clarifies the state of the current version of JOnAS.
It is not in our intentions to make marketing speechs or to deceive
