We are pleased to announce the availability of Jonas version 2.3
Main evolutions in this new version:
A) Improvement of installation and configuration:
- JMS and JNDI are embedded in the JOnAS package
- Configuration files are now under $JONAS_ROOT/config (before
it was located under $JONAS_ROOT)
- New command CheckEnv for checking JOnAS environment
B) Entity and Session beans:
- time out for session beans
- "Reentrant" tag for entity beans
- Container managed transaction isolation
- better support of multithreading with entity
- <resource-env-ref> in deployment descriptor
C) Message Driven Beans on Queues and Topics:
- elements of the DTD EJB 2.0 relative to message driven beans
are taken into account
- two examples using message driven beans are provided
- new chapter in the JOnAS documentation
D) better integration of JMS in JOnAS:
- creation of a configurable JMS service
- a new command for launching the JMS Server (JmsServer)
- the JMS Server may be launched in the same JVM than JOnAS
- simplified JMS administration, default administered
objects creation
Closed bugs since the previous version:
- bad format of the .bat files
- security hole for session home methods
- JonasAdmin -remove don't stop threads
- rollback problem
- multithreading problem with entity beans with transaction
- bad error message when remove method is defined
in Home interface
- transaction timeout
