Found a website about him  - you're right  - a member of The
Fantastic Baggys with Steve Barri - seems he wrote a lot for 
the likes of Jan and Dean, with songs like  'Wax Up Your Board', 
'This Little Woody' (um, interesting title!), 'Swimtime U.S.A.', 
'Surfer Boy's Dream Come True', 'Save Your Sundays For Surfin'', 
etc etc., but he is best known for writing 'Eve of Destruction' 
(Barry McGuire) and 'Secret Agent Man' (Johnny Rivers, Devo 
& others).

Looks like he's still working  - he played a gig at McCabe's in 
LA back in May.
