I received this missive from a friend of mine who is with the UN Peace
Keeping Task Force in Kosovo.

"Hello from Vushtrri...

UN-F____ING BELIEVABLE. Just as I finalized instruction for today, my
colleague, Berit, told me that she received a cell phone text message
from Heiti...her house mate. The message said that a plane had crashed
into the World Trade Center...and a helicopter crashed outside the
Pentagon. When I left the class room, Sandy Higgs, an American, asked
if I knew what was happening to my area...it's on CNN...everyone is in
Steve's office...go in a watch.

Well...I did. It is absolutely surreal...I saw the taped video coverage
of the plane crashing into the second tower of the Trade Center...later,
the tower crashing...then saw live coverage as the remaining tower
seemed to implode. *sigh* Such carnage! My god...then heard that
there were so far four commercial hijacked airplanes that were
involved...one a 767 flight from Boston to N.Y...reports of a fifth
hijacked plane heading in the direction of the Pentagon...with a fighter
bomber sent to intercept.

The anxiety builds. I empathize with the masses that are directly
involved...and affected by this travesty. I stammer for words to
adequately describe my emotional reactions...and cannot. I never
thought that I would witness a terrorist attack of this magnitude on
American soil. Those poor souls and their families.......

The contingent meeting which was scheduled for 4:30 was canceled. Now,
I ask...what better time to have a meeting...all Americans are
present...and in utter shock at what just occured...feeling helpless and
devastated.

I pray that none of you are directly affected. May you all be safe from
harm."

I received this at 10:45 am this morning...so they did not have a lot of
information. But you can see...the world now knows all about this and
is most of the world is horrified. I wonder how the world trade center
towers could crumble with just the impact from an airliner?

Some friends and I were out working in my gardens and discussing this
horrific attack...but we would come into the house to check the news.
Finally we were too sick at heart to continue in the gardens and we have
been watching the news ever since.

Thank you all for updates on out New York and Washington DC friends.

Here in Minnesota, all University classes canceled, things have ground
to a halt with everyone glued to the radio or TV.

I wish all of you love and peace.........

Sharon
