We taxied into Auckland Airport to be told there had been a "world event" and that someone would be on board soon to brief us. We then heard the horrific news - which completely threw me and everyone else on the plane, particularly since we were on a United Airlines flight. They also initially informed us that it was the Empire State Building that had been destroyed, and it wasn't until we got into the terminal that we heard the real facts. I'm now trying to take it all in - I knew coming home would be traumatic, but not in this way. I'm so glad that (so far) everyone on the list is OK, and hope all your families, friends and loved ones have not been harmed.
