I know that there will be, unfortunately, thousands of stories like this one, over the next days, but I wished to share. There is a woman named Pam, in our NYC office- midtown- who I am very close with. She called me last week to invite me to her wedding next June. I am thrilled for her, of course, and have met her fiance Rick, spent time together last winter. Pam is 46 and has been waiting all her life for this knight in shining armour to come to her. They have truly found happiness together. Rick works for Morgan Stanley on the 62nd floor of tour 2 at the WTC. He was in early yesterday as he had a meeting to attend. He saw the first plane hit, and the debris flying. Got on the elevator to go to the ground, and then back up to the 44th floor to his scheduled meeting. Of course they felt the shudder of the 2nd plane hitting the 51st floor above, but had no idea what it was. The ceiling began to crumble and they were most concerned about the flying debris from the first tour coming in the windows. He and his colleagues were able to walk down the 44 floors and get out. 15 blocks later he turned around to see his building crumble. He joined the slow-moving exodus of people going north, and 2 hours later made it to midtown and was safe in Pam's arms. Needless to say, it was a happy night for the both of them, and I was thrilled to receive Pam's call just a short while ago. Prayers to all, Stephen in Vancouver
