I have always thought religion was
potentially the most dangerous threat facing the world, a threat to our
civil liberties here at home, and now, to our personal safety. I hope god
appreciates (or Allah, or Buddah, or whomever) how we've managed to
corrupt an ostensibly enlightening and benevolent concept to suit our own
need to feel superior--to someone who would get an abortion, to someone
who's homosexual, to a Catholic, to a Protestant, to a citizen of a more
powerful country.
Whatever happened to the Opiate of the People concept? >>

I agree with your friend, Lori. religion, people's insistance that their
reality be forced upon everyone else, is indeed the cause of so much trouble

however, I believe the root casue behind everything is fear.
