I'm with Kakki on this one. Of course, the US is not perfect. We've made
mistakes and even committed some grave sins. The Americans I've been
talking with acknowledge our failings and are even willing to reflect on how
we might have contributed to the situation we face today. But for crying
out loud, read what Bin Laden has to say. "Pure evil" about sums it up.
His worldview is absolutely demonic. Various folks have posted sources of
information on this guy and his buddies. Read it, and see if "pure evil"
does not apply. We cannot treat this man as just another dissident.
Parallels to Hitler are apt. He hates us (Americans) for the mere fact that
we exist. We indeed must DEFEND and PROTECT ourselves
Okay, this may sound mean: I can tolerate some of this criticism of the US
from my fellow Americans. But I wish the rest of you could just shut up and
let us grieve for awhile. I'm not thinking of any particular "non-American"
so please don't jump on me. But can't you recognize that it's just not the
best time to heap on the criticism? I am so raw right now. I vacillate
between tears and anxiety attacks. Sleep is elusive and nightmares
frequent. And I wasn't even anywhere near the various grounds zero.
Please, give us a couple of weeks and let us learn how to cope with this.
You may think we are spoiled brats, because other countries have suffered
under terrorism for years. Well, we haven't. Give us a chance to learn. Be
kind, and be patient, and please withold judgment.
