According the biography written on him, Jaco, in a mentally challenged state, tried a number of times to jump onstage and play with a local band in the bar. Neither the band or the bouncer realized or knew who he was. The bouncer hauled him out into the back alley and beat him senseless. Jaco slipped into a coma for a few days and never recovered. I may not have all the facts correct as it's been years since I've read the account. Les
