I saw Jimi at Monterey Pop and again in '69 at Devonshire Downs (Los Angeles). Monterey was certainly special, after seeing SO many talented groups and 3 days of music, I really thought I had seen it all. Seeing Janis Joplin for the first time, the Dead, and the Who. But Jimi was emotionally the high point of the festival. I was unable to appreciate the unique qualities of his technique (piano was my only instrument) but the quality of his total committment to the music and the transcendence of ALL previuos musical experiences came through clearly. By '69, I was "used to" his ability but still awed by the sheer charisma and vitality of his set. (BTW<I was about 20-25 feet away at Devonshire.) Darice
