in another life i'm a tennis fan and i read john wertheim's mailbag at
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/tennis/ every week, so i knew this song had
been mentioned. i just spent way too much time tracking down the third
song.

from the 8/13 mailbag:

-----

Who sings that slightly catchy, slightly annoying song ("All I want to do is
to thank you/Even though I don't know who you are/You let me change
lanes/While I was driving in my car") that accompanies the incessant
Mercedes ads on tennis telecasts?

My pal Chris in Atlanta informs me that it's Geggy Tah. What can I say? You
ask, I answer.

(c) Don't even know the make of the car this time, but this
>> commercial features genXers again, driving (in some scenes) in a
>tunnel, with
>> a catchy start-and-stop piece that's a mix of hiphop, big band (lots of
>> horns) and I don't know what -- hard to classify. I think the
>song is either
>> a current or very recent hit, because I still hear it on the
>street from time
>> to time. Sorry for being so vague -- I should take better notes
>when I'm
>> watching TV.
